(C) महिलाओं की स्तिथि, अत्याचार।

सत्याषाढ श्रौतसूत्र [सत्याषाढ श्रौतसूत्र 29.4.41], बौधायन पितृमेधसूत्र [बौधायन पितृमेधसूत्र 3.7.4] एवं गरुड़ पुराण [गरुड़ पुराण 2.4.169-70] में ऐसी व्यवस्था दी हुई है कि यदि विदेश गया हुआ व्यक्ति आकृतिदहन (पुत्तल-दाह) के उपरान्त लौट आये, अर्थात् मृत समझा गया व्यक्ति जीवित अवस्था में लौटे तो वह घृत से भरे कुण्ड में डुबोकर बाहर निकाला जाता है; पुन: उसको स्नान कराया जाता है और जातकर्म से लेकर सभी संस्कार किये जाते हैं। इसके उपरान्त उसको अपनी पत्नी के साथ पुन: विवाह करना होता है, किन्तु यदि उसकी पत्नी मर गयी है तो वह दूसरी कन्या से विवाह कर सकता है और तब वह पुन: अग्निहोत्र आरम्भ कर सकता है।

*( BRIHADÂRANYAKA UPANISHAD 6:4:6-7 )* If she should not grant him his desire, he should bribe her. If she still does not grant him his desire, he should hit her with a stick or with his hand, and overcome her, saying: ‘With power, with glory I take away your glory!’ Thus she becomes inglorious.

यदि वह नारी  खुद को उस पुरुष की कामना  में  अर्पन  नहीं  करता है , तो उस नारी को मनाने  की  कोशिश  करना चाहिए  ।  *यदि वह नारी  अभी भी उस पुरुष को अपनी कामना नहीं देती है, तो उसे छड़ी से या उसके हाथ से मारना चाहिए , और उसपर  आधिपत्य करना चाहिए ; यह कहते हुए:  "शक्ति के साथ, मैं तेरी महिमा को छीन लेता हूं! "* ’इस प्रकार वह नारी  दुर्बल  हो  जातीं  है ।

*ब्राह्मणी ( हिन्दू ) धर्म के भगवान् लोग ही औरतों की इज्जत नहीं करते तो उनको मानने वाले लोग क्या ख़ाक इज्जत करेंगे?*

१.परशुराम:- ब्राह्मण लोगों का देवता, और “विष्णु" का अवतार “परशुराम" ने अपनी माँ का सर कुल्हाड़ी से उड़ा दिया था।

२.कृष्णा:- “विष्णु" का अवतार, ये तो खुद औरतों को छेड़ता था उनके कपडे नहाते समय लेके भाग जाता था। उनकी मटकिया फोड़ के उनको मानसिक कष्ट देता था और मीरा को धोखा देके इसने राधा से ब्याह रचाया।

३.ब्रह्मा:- सृष्टि की जिसने उत्पति की ब्रह्मा, “ब्रह्मा" ने तो अपनी पुत्री “सरस्वती" का ही बलात्कार कर डाला।

४.पांडव:- पांडवों ने बेशर्मी की सभी हदें पार कर दी,अपनी बीवी को बेइज्जत करके, सरे आम उसको नीलाम कर दिया। दांव पे लगा दिया। जब उसकी इज्जत लूटी जा रही थी तो किसी ने भी अपनी पत्नी की इज्जत बचाने की कोशिश नहीं की, सब बेशर्मी से देखते रह गए।

५.राम:- और एक “विष्णु" का अवतार, बहुत ही पॉपुलर, भगवान् श्री राम! पहले तो अपनी पत्नी सीता को अग्नि परीक्षा देने के लिए विवश किया, फिर भी इस भगवान का शक कम नहीं हुआ और एक धोबी के कहने पर अपनी पत्नी को घर से निकल दिया वो भी तब जब सीता गर्भवती थी। सीता को अग्नि से गुजार दिया लेकिन खुद कभी कोई परीक्षा नहीं दी।

अश्वमेघ यज्ञ, पुत्रेष्ठि यज्ञ, नियोग प्रथा, योनी अयोनी प्रथा आदि इन सभी प्रथाओं के द्वारा स्त्रियों का बहुत बुरी तरह शोषण किया जाता था।

महिलाएं स्वभाव से पापी और झूठी हैं।

बलात्कार की शिकार महिलाएं अशुद्ध हैं और उन्हें शुद्ध करने की आवश्यकता है।

महिलाओं और शूद्रों को पिटाई से नरम कर दिया जाता है। यानि उनको मारो पितो।

औरतें (स्त्रियाँ) इस काबिल नहीं कि वेद का अध्यन कर सके,

औरत के लिए कोई विरासत नहीं।

क्षत्रियों को बलात्कार की इजाजत है रक्षस विवाह के रूप में । 

मनुस्मृति 3:24, महाभारत 1:73 , कौतिल्य अर्थशास्त्र भाग 2 , गौतम  4:14-15, संखा स्मृति 4:3 , विष्णु स्मृति 24:26-29, 

औरत सिर्फ बच्चे पैदा करने की मशीन के रूप में ही बनाई गई है और एक भोग वस्तु।

दहेज़ को प्रोत्साहित करें बरावा दें।

गैर हिन्दू और हिन्दू (निम्न जाति) की महिलाओं को वेश्या या देवदासी में जबरदस्ती शामिल(या कर) होना/देना  चाहिए।

कौतिल्य अर्थशास्त्र में भी है मगर उस में सिर्फ देवदासी का ही है_ ,  मतस्य पुराण 71:26-59, पद्मा पुराण 1:23 74 b- 142 

विधवाएँ सबसे अशुभ चीजों के लिए अशुभ होती हैं। यात्रा शुरू करते समय उन्हें नहीं देखना चाहिए। उन्हें खाना पकाकर नहीं खाना चाहिए। 

विष्णु स्मृति 65-33-35, अग्नि पुराण अध्याय 230, स्कन्द पुराण iii:ii: 7:50-52 

महिलाओं को या तो अपने पति की मृत्यु के बाद खुद को निर्वासित कर लेना चाहिए या उसे अपने सिर को ढँककर एक पवित्र जीवन जीना चाहिए, पुराने फटे गंदे कपड़े पहनकर, फर्श पर सोना चाहिए। आदि।

विष्णु स्मृति 25:14, ब्रह्मा पुराण 10:75, स्कन्द पुराण 5:11.36

असत्य, व्यर्थ साहस करना, शिल्पीता, मूर्खता, अधीरता, लालच, अशुद्धता, कठोरता, निर्दयता, चालाकी, धोखेबाजी महिलाओं के स्वभाव गुण हैं।  पुरुषों को अधर्मी बनाने के लिए। 

देवी भागवातम् 1:5:83, ब्रह्मा पुराण 61:22-41, भागवत पुराण 3:31:40, 9:14:36-38, महाभारत 13:40

*महिलाओं पर अत्यचार वैदिक धर्म का अधिकार भाग:१* 

आइये देखते हैं वैदिक धर्म ग्रंथ महिलाओं के बारे में क्या कहते क्या हैं।

‘सरस्वती’ जिसे आर्य समाजी ज्ञान की देवी कहते हैं उसके बारे में एक आर्य समाजी का लिखा यह श्लोक मिला:

*वामकुचनिहित वीणाम।*

*वरदां संगीत मातृकां वंदे।*

अथार्त्: बायें स्तन पर वीणा टिकाये हुए संगीत की देवी वंदना करती है। दिलचस्पी बढी तो काली महात्म्य को भी पढा। वहां लिखा गया है:

*घोरदंष्ट्रा करालास्या पीनोन्नतपयोधरा।*

*महाकालेन च समं विपरीतरतातुरा।*

*कच कुचचिबुकाग्रे पाणिषु व्यापितेषु।*

*प्रथम जलाधि-पुत्री-संगमे नंग धाग्नि।*

*ग्रथित निविडनीवी ग्रन्थिनिर्मोंचनार्थं चतुरधिक कराशःपातु न श्चक्रमाणि।*

अथार्त्: लक्ष्मी के साथ चतुर्भुज भगवान् का प्रथम संगम ( sex ) हो रहा है। उनके चारों हाथ फंसे हुए हैं। दो लक्ष्मी के स्तनों ( boobs ) में, एक केश में, एक ठोढ़ी ( lip ) में। अब नीवी ( साड़ी की गाँठ ) खोलें तो कैसे? इस काम के लिये एडीशनल हैंड ( अतिरिक्त हाथ ) चाहने वाले विष्णु भगवान् हम लोगों की रक्षा करें।

*“या देवी सर्वभूतेषु…”* मंत्र से दुर्गा का पूजन प्रारंभ करता है आर्य समाज। यह वही समाज है जो *‘यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः’* का डंका पीटकर वैदिक धर्म और संस्कृति पर गर्व से घोषणा करता हैं कि हमारे धर्म-शास्त्रों में स्त्री को देवी का रूप मानकर उसकी पूजा करने का प्रावधान है। यह श्लोक मनुस्मृति के तीसरे अध्याय के छप्पनवें श्लोक की पहली पंक्ति हैं। संभव है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति इस श्लोकांश के आधे-अधुरे मतलब को सच मान वैदिक धर्म के तथाकथित नारी के प्रति सम्मान से मोहित हो जाय लेकिन इस श्लोक को यदि श्लोक संख्या ५४ और ५५ के साथ पढ़ा जाये तो स्पष्ट होगा कि ‘पूजा’ का आशय विवाह में दिया जाने वाला स्त्री धन है और मनु ने इससे दहेज प्रथा की शुरुआत की थी। वैदिक युग में राजा ब्राह्म्णों को गाय के साथ कन्यादान भी करता था। इसके अनेक प्रमाण वैदिक धर्म ग्रंथों में मिल जायेंगे।

भारत मे संविधान ने जो नारी/ स्त्री को दिया वो आज तक कोई हिन्दू भगवान या हिन्दू धर्म क्यों नही दे सका है।

धर्म के अनुसार सती प्रथा सही है लेकिन संविधान के अनुसार गलत  #और_प्रतिबंधित_है

धर्म के अनुसार नारी को शिक्षा का अधिकार नहीं है लेकिन #संविधान_के_अनुसार_है

धर्म ने नारी को समानता का अधिकार नहीं दिया लेकिन #संविधान_ने_दिया_है

धर्म विधव महिला को दूसरा शादी करने का इजाजत नहीं देता है  #लेकिन_संविधान_देता_है

धर्म ने नारी को हर रूप मे पुरुषों का दास बना रखा है लेकिन  #संविधान_ने_हर_रूप_में_स्वतंत्रता_दी_है

धर्म ने महिलाओं को बहुत से मंदिरों में जाने की इजाजत नहीं दी #लेकिन_सविधान_ने_दी_है

धर्म ने देवदासी जैसी कई कुप्रथाओं से महिलाओं का खूब शोषण किया लेकिन संविधान ने कुप्रथाओं पर प्रतिबंध लगाकर महिलाओं को भी सम्मानित जीवन जीने का अधिकार दिया

धर्म के बाल विवाह सही है लेकिन संविधान के अनुसार गलत  #और_प्रतिबंधित_है

महिलाओं की अवस्था।

* हे अलक्ष्मी ( मनहूस ) यहाँ से उठ क्या चाहती है हुई इस घर में तू आई है  विजयी में मुझे अपने घर से निकलता हु  शून्य ( कुछ ) नहीं चाहने वाली जो यु आई है , हे कंजुसनी उठ  चलती हो यहाँ  मत ठहर  ! 

(अर्थवेद  १४ : २ : १९ )

* यदि पिता तेरी लड़की बाल  बिखरे हुए बिलख बिलखकर दुःख के साथ घर में रोवे  !

 ( अर्थवेद  १४ ; २ ; ६० )

* जो तेरी  स्त्रिया और जो युवा  स्त्रिया  तेरे घर में बिलख  बिलखकर  के रोवे  और कष्ट  करती हुई मिलकर  इधर उधर फिरे ! 

( अर्थवेद  १४ ; २ ; ६१  ) 

* देख लिया ज्ञान विज्ञानं की बाते  और  जिनको लड़का या फिर लड़की चाहिए वो  महावारी  के बाद इन रातो में सम्भोग  करे  ( SEX )

6 , 8 , 10 , 12 , 14 रात को कोई संभोग ( सेक्स ) करता है तो उसको पुत्र की प्राप्ति  होगी  ।

* और जो  5 , 7 , 9 , 15 की रात्रि को संभोग ( सेक्स ) करता है तो पुत्री होगी ( लड़की ) मनु ३  अधयया  उसी प्रकार  चूत्यार्थ  प्रकाश में भी  है !

*हिन्दू धर्म ग्रंथों व उनके विद्वानों की नज़र में औरत का स्थान*

इस्लाम में सिर्फ एक पर्दे (हिजाब) को लेकर औरत को क़ैदी बताने वाले लोग, हिन्दू धर्म के सविंधान रचियता मनु महाराज की इन शिक्षाओं के बारे में क्या कहेंगे?

*1. पुरुषों को खराब करना स्त्रियों का स्वभाव ही है, अतः बुद्धिमानों को इन से बचना चाहिए।* (मनुस्मृति 2:213)

*2. पुरुष विद्वान हो, चाहे अविद्वान, स्त्रियां उसे बुरे रास्ते पर डाल देती हैं।*

(मनुस्मृति 2:214)

*3. चाहे माता हो, चाहे बहन हो, चाहे अपनी लड़की हो, इन के पास एकांत में नहीं बैठना चाहिए। इंद्रियां कई बार विद्वानों को भी खींच कर बुरे रास्ते पर ले जाती हैं।*

(मनुस्मृति 2:215)

*4. ललाई लिए भूरे रंग वाली, छः उंगलियों वाली, ज्यादा बालों वाली, बिना बालों वाली, ज्यादा बोलने वाली, भूरी आंखों वाली स्त्री के साथ विवाह न करे।*

(मनुस्मृति 3:8)

(ऐसी महिलाएं क्या करे? क्या उनके माता पिता सारी उम्र उन्हें घर में रखेंगे? क्या वे आत्महत्या कर लें? क्या वे वेश्याएं बन जाएं?)

*5. जिन स्त्रियों का कोई भाई न हो, उसके साथ विवाह न करे।* (मनुस्मृति 3:11)

(इस में उस बेचारी लड़की का क्या कसूर है कि उस का कोई भाई नहीं है?)

*6. पुरुषों को दिनरात स्त्रियों की देखभाल करनी चाहिए।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:2)

*7. कुमारावस्था में पिता उस की देखभाल करता है, युवावस्था में पति और बुढ़ापे में पुत्र। नारी स्वतंत्र नहीं की जानी चाहिए। स्त्रियों को जराजरा सी बातों से बचाना चाहिए, नहीं तो दोनों कुलों की बदनामी होती है।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:3,5)

*8. स्त्रियों को घर के कामों और धर्म के कार्यों में व्यस्त रखना चाहिए ताकि वे खाली समय प्राप्त न कर सकें।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:11)

*9. स्त्रियों को बचा कर रखना चाहिए। वे सुंदर या कुरूप का और छोटे या बूढ़े व्यक्ति की उम्र का भी ध्यान नहीं करतीं। वे किसी भी पुरुष की हो जाती हैं।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:14)

(क्या पुरुषों में से कई लोग किसी भी महिला के नहीं हो जाते हैं?)

*10. स्त्रियों में क्रोध, कुटिलता, द्वेष और बुरे कामों में रुचि स्वभाव से ही होती है।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:17)

*11. स्त्रियों के संस्कार वेदमंत्रों से नहीं करने चाहिए, वे मूर्ख होती हैं। वे अशुभ होती हैं।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:18)

(ये खुला पक्षपात नहीं तो और क्या है?)

*12. विधवा स्त्री का दोबारा विवाह नहीं करना चाहिए। यदि किया जाए तो धर्म का नाश होगा।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:64, 65)

(यदि जवान लड़की का पति मर जाये और उसे दोबारा शादी न करने दी जाए तो उसकी पूरे जीवन का नाश नहीं होगा?)

*13. यदि सगाई के बाद ही भावी पति मर जाए, तो कन्या को उस (होने वाले पति) के छोटे भाई से ब्याह दे।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:69)

(यदि छोटा भाई योग्य न हो तो किससे ब्याहे?)

*14. स्त्रियां स्वभाव से ही चंचल होती है, इसलिए पति होने के बाद भी ये किसी सुंदर पुरुष को देखकर, मन में विचलित होकर उसके साथ व्यभिचार में फंस जाती हैं।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:15)

*15. क्योंकि ब्रह्मा जी ने स्त्रियों को ऐसे ही स्वभाव के साथ पैदा किया है, इसलिए पुरुष इनकी रक्षा का खूब यत्न करें।*

(मनुस्मृति 9:16)

(इस ग्रंथ के अनुसार ये सब बुराइयां स्वयं ईश्वर ने स्त्री में डाली है)

Padma Purana V.113.40-46b ”Vasistha said:- O king, you have not asked enough. That is said to be holy which enables one to be more sportive, O king. He should make Siva’s temple white with whitewash on all sides. He should have women who are endowed with beauty and graceful movements, adorned with all ornaments, skilled in (singing) many good songs, and proficient in various kinds of dancing…All should be beautiful and should have graceful movements. All should be of firm breasts. They should be skilled in the ways of sexual love and should be trustworthy…O king, he who has caused women like this to dance (even) on one day, gets into a (divine) aeroplane in a year.”

Padma Purana 1.23.74b-87a “The Lord said: O Brahman, born from the lotus, in the same city there will be sixteen thousand wives of Vasudeva. Krsna, the universal soul, having eyes like those of a deer, the dignified scion of Yadu family, who had put the garland of Malati flowers on his head, and being adorned with his praiseworthy wives, will enjoy with them in a garden rich with flowers, and situated on the bank of a lake, in the spring season abounding in cuckoos and swarms of bees. Samba, Jambavatl’s son, adorned with all (kinds of ornaments), going along with the path nearby, really of the form of Cupid, will be longingly seen by the ladies and passion will be aroused in the hearts of them who will be tormented by the arrows of Cupid. He, the lord of the world, the omniscient master, having perceived it with his eye of contemplation, will say to them: “The evil being will kidnap you, since you have thus entertained the passion of love (for Samba) in my presence.” Then the revered lord, the cause of beings, the holder of the bow made of horn, being propitiated (by the ladies) tormented with the curse, will say this: “(You will observe) the vow, beneficial in the future, which sage Dalbhya, emancipator of the fishermen living in the north and of an unlimited (generosity of) mind will tell you.” Saying so and leaving them, the lord vanished. Then after a (long) time when the burden (on the earth as a result of the great Bharatawar) will be lightened and when the fight with clubs (among the Yadavas) will be over, when Kesava will have come back to the heaven, when the entire Yadu-family will be no more, when even Arjuna will be defeated by the thieves, when Krsna’s wives will be kidnapped and will be enjoyed by the fishermen for a hundred million years and when they will be (thus) tormented, a devout soul, Dalbhya by name, with great penance (to his credit) will come there.”

Padma Purana 1.23.91-121 “O revered sir, all of us have been perforce enjoyed by the evil beings; we have slipped from (i.e. erred in) our duty. You are our refuge. O brahmana, you have been formerly instructed by the intelligent Kesava. Why have we become prostitutes after having come in contact with the lord? O you, whose wealth is penance, explain to us the duties of the prostitutes.” I shall tell you what Dalbhya Caikitayana said to them. Dalbhya said: Formerly Narada approached you, who were proud, while (you were) sporting in the water of the Manasa lake. All of you were daughters of Agni and were the nymphs in olden days. Not saluting Narada through haughtiness you asked the sage conversant with deep and abstract meditation: “Advise us as to how Narayana will be our husband.” From him, this boon and this curse came forth (i.e. Narada gave this boon to and pronounced this curse on the ladies) in ancient days: “By giving a couple of beds with articles of gold (to a brahmana) on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Caitra and Vaisakha, Narayana will certainly be your husband (i.e. you will obtain Narayana as your husband); (and) since, you asked me (a question) without saluting me, due to your selfish addiction to your beauty and good fortune, you will be kidnapped by thieves and will become prostitutes.” Thus, due to the curse of Narada and also that of Kesava, all of you, deluded by passion, have become prostitutes. O you excellent ladies, listen, even now, to what I shall say. The lord of lords, the best speaker, formerly said to the hundreds and thousands of thousands of the wives of the demons, the Asuras (the evil spirits—enemies of gods), the sons of Diti and the goblins, when these (ladies) were married and enjoyed by force (by the gods), after hundreds of the Asuras and demons were killed by the gods in the war between gods and Asuras (that took place) in ancient days: “O you devout and beautiful ladies, now live as prostitutes in king’s residences and in temples of gods; you will obtain your livelihood from the king and the master; and all of you will have good fortune as per your capacity. He, who enters your house with the fee should be served by you with attitude of love void of deceit… At that time, he, having the five arrows as his soul (i.e. Cupid), will go (i.e. remain) near Hari. She should worship the lotus-eyed (god i.e. Visnu), followed by eulogies of Cupid. She should worship the feet (of the image of the deity saying:) ‘My salutation to Kama’; (she should worship) the shanks (saying:) ‘My salutation to Vaimohakarin’; (she should worship) the generative organ (of the image of the deity saying:) ‘My salutation to Kandarpanidhi…Having thus worshipped Govinda, the lord of the form of Ananga, the lady having made an offering with sandal, flowers and incense, and then having invited a Brahmana knowing customary observances, who has mastered the Vedas and who is without any deformity, and then having honoured him with adoration of sandal, flowers etc. she should give the brahmana rice of the measure of a prastha along with a pot of ghee, (saying:) ‘May Madhava be pleased’. She should bear in mind that the best Brahmana, who has eaten well according to his sweet will, is Kamadeva meant for Rati. The lady should do whatever the best Brahmana desires.”

Padma Purana 1.23.130b-142 “Then having circumambulated and allowed the best Brahmana to go, she should take all (the articles) like the bed, the seat, to the Brahmana’s house. Since then whosoever comes to her house for sexual enjoyment should be similarly honoured on a Sunday and should always be adored. Thus till the thirteenth month arrives, she should gratify a Brahmana and then send him to his house; with his permission (she may entertain) a handsome (person) till he arrives (to her residence). When she has a difficulty as a result of impurity due to child-birth or abortion or from the king or a difficulty due to divine or human (forces) or due to an eclipse, then she should offer herself according to her capacity, for fifty-eight times. This (vow) I have especially narrated to you, since this is the duty that should be always performed by the prostitutes in this world…”

Sage Dalbhya instructs them to lead prostitution just like Indra had commanded the wives of slain demons mentioned in Matsya Purana 71.26-59 which I have already mentioned in Sex Slavescategory, readers are requested to read Matsya Purana 71.26-59 again to better understand this.  Agni Purana 211.37-43 also talks about gifting female slaves to Brahmins which I have mentioned inSex Slaves category.

There is a story of a Rishi Galava who engaged his daughter into prostitution just to get horses, The story is very long and mentioned in three sections of Mahabharata hence it’s not possible to mention every detail but I will post the summarized version created by Ibn Muhammad,

Mahabharata Udyog Parva section 115 “She is my daughter. She is extremely beautiful and virtuous. She is desired by every male in three worlds. She can charm any Sur, Asur, Aryan or non-Aryan. I offer my daughter to you. You can sell her to any king and manage to have your gurudakhshina.”

Mahabharata Udyog Parva, Section 116 “So, Rishi Galav, without any qualms of conscience, accepts the king’s daughter and mortgages her to Ayodhya’s king Haryashaw and in return gets 200 horses. He takes 200 horses, leaving Madhavi to bear a son to the king.”

Mahabharata Udyog Parva, section 117 and 118 “The Rishi Galav then searched another buyer for Madhavi and this time it is king Divodas who gives 200 horses in the bargain. (Udyog Parv, section117). Then he takes her to king Ushinao and manages to strike a better bargain. He receives now 400 horses. (Udyog Parv, section 118).

There is a story mentioned in Brahma Purana which says that Devas exchanges Saraswati with the Asuras for Soma Ras

Brahma Purana Gautami Mahatmya 35.6-13 ”…If Devas are prepared let them come there for sacrifice. Gandharvas are always fond of women. Exchange me for Soma”. ”So be it”, said Devas who firmly agreed to what was said by Sarasvati. Through the messengers they invited Devas, Yaksas, Gandharvas and Nagas severally to the sacred mountain. There-after, O sage, the name of that mountain became Devagiti. There came Devas, Gandharvas, Yaksas, Raksasas, Siddhas, sages and the eight species of inferior gods… [Indra said] Exchange the nectar-souled Soma of yours for Saraswati. [Brahma said] At the instance of Indra those Gandharvas, passionate over women, gave Soma to Devas and took Saraswati. Devas possessed Soma and Gandharvas possessed Saraswati.”
